About Me

My name is Lindsey.  For the last 5 or so years I have been a preschool teacher.  I loved my job, I loved my students, and I feel that my love for children is a gift that God has given me.  Last September, God blessed me with a child of my own so now, I am blessed to have the opportunity to stay at home with him full-time.  As a new mom, I hope to share with you all things mommy, baby, and stay-at-homer related.

I love all things crafty.  I love the satisfaction of creating something beautiful and knowing that it is one-of-a-kind since I made it myself.  I am slowly decorating my home.  The reason that I have very little hanging on my walls is because I know exactly what I want and until I get the time or money to do it, it will remain blank.  Creating things myself also makes me love my home even more.  I look around and see things that mean something to me.  I want my home to look like it can be featured in a magazine, without it coming from a catalog.  (Dont get me wrong, I love to browse the latest Pottery Barn mailer just as much as the next person - but I use it for inspirational purposes only!)

I love my family.  I want to be the absolute best wife and mommy that I can be.  When it comes to my son, Audie, I want to provide the very best of care for him.  God has given me the great responsibility of raising this child for HIM, and that is not something that I take lightly.  I want to share meaningful experiences with him.  One day when he thinks back on his childhood, I want love, joy, and fun to be the things that come to mind. My goals for my son (and other future children I may have):
  • To love the Lord and to serve Him in everything he does - Luke 10:27
  • To love others (no matter their race, religion, political beliefs, or lifestyle) - Matthew 22:39, Romans 2:11
  • To be respectful, compassionate, polite, and considerate - Psalm 86:15
  • To be a hard worker - Romans 12:11
  • To be patient - 2 Timothy 2:24
  • To be independent and to think for himself
  • To be creative
My husband, John, is simply the best.  I've known him since I was sixteen.  We started dating when I was 20.  Four years later we got married, and now we've been married for 3 years (yes, that makes me almost 30! Grrr...).  I know everyone says this, but he truly is my best friend.  There is no one else that I would rather spend time with.  We have identical senses of humor (senses?) so that means that we just laugh all the time.  We hardly fight and when we do, it's over the thermostat!  He is a great dad to Audie, and I'm blessed to have him in my life.

My purpose for this blog:
  • To give me an incentive to do craft projects, cleaning projects, cooking projects (aka: try new recipes) or Audie-realted activities since I'd like to have something to post every week
  • To give me something to do (aka: a hobby)  - I've always liked to write, so what better way to combine my life and the things I love with writing than to write about my life and the things I love
  • To (hopefully) inspire others with ideas (love me some Pinterest, so please, "pin" away!)
  • To encourage others like me by letting them know that they are not the only ones functioning on 3 hours of sleep, still in their pajamas at 2pm, staring at a pile of laundry, and laughing about it all (instead of crying or pulling their hair out) because their baby hasn't napped all day

I hope this gives you a better idea of who I am and why I have a blog.  Please feel free to comment so I know you're out there!  Thanks for stopping by!
